Fabrice Alleman has a duel disposition which is quite apparent. Firstly, starting with his musical education and secondly, by using two instruments to express himself on this record: the soprano that reminds you of Charlie Mariano and John Coltrane, the tenor which evokes Sonny Rollins and Bob Mintzer. It is equally apparent when recording, in the studio and on stage.
Even throughout his repertoire, there is a mixture of original compositions as well as traditional Jazz themes. But from this duality a third element suddenly arose : the music”Jazz”like Boris Vian used to say, played in harmony and in rhythm ready to define and to assist the leader’s slightest intention. This is a top quality quartet on the Jazz scene at the moment : during the Jazz Festival in Liège, Fabrice Alleman obtained the”Nicolas D’or”prize.
