In 1983, Steve Houben saw an old dream come true. He created a big band by adding a string section to a jazz combo. At the time, the idea was hailed in Belgium as a major musical event, and was considerable success. Live, the “showtime” appeal of the outfit appealed to a large and curious audience. The success of the project was largely due to Steve Houben, but the three other composers also played an integral role.

Michel Herr, Guy Cabay and Denis Luxion created a repertoire of 12 original pieces for this most unusual format. The album which followed the live shows proved just as successful. Its re-released on CD for the first time is therefore of considerable interest.
