For more than 30 years, Garrett List has been well known on the Belgian scene, notably creating the improvisation chair at Liège’s Royal Conservatory. Orchestra ViVo! is an innovative artistic project that is part of a broader collective reflection on our time and which brings together Art Music and popular styles. List feels that the project has become a sort of little village that has grown into an orchestra.

Orchestra ViVo! consists of 30 experienced musicians, all active on the creative scene in Belgium. Composed exclusively of tracks written by members of the orchestra, the music boasts the energy of rock, the clarity of classical music and the freedom of jazz. Each Orchestra ViVo! concert is a unique musical experience, a guided tour through improvisation, the poetry of texts that are sung, recited, rapped and… the amazing complicity shown by 30 different musicians.

With no conductor, Orchestra ViVo! functions like a pop group where the line between interpretation and composition is wiped out. “We encourage everyone to become a creator of music, so that everyone can feel autonomous within the group.
