Since the eighties, he’s the leader of Act Big Band, who owes its existence to the enthusiasm, determination and flair of the jazzmen who fill its ranks. In 1996, he plays with many jazz musicians of a new generation: sideman in Eric Legnini quartet, in André Donni quartet, in “Octurn Group”, “Tribute to Pepper Adams” (with Gary Smulyan). He plays also regularly with american saxophonist Lew Tabackin and P.Aerts. 1996 will be his year on Igloo with a personal and free hand project showing that this particular drummer is much more than just a side-man: “Intensive Act ” presents Félix Simtaine in solo of course, but also in trio with P. Aerts and E. Legnini, in quartet with A. Donni, in quintet with G. Smulyan, Bo Van der Werf, R.van Rossum…, and Act Big Band, who recorded 4 new compositions…
