The framework for this first album was laid during numerous sessions with flute player Pierre Bernard. They led to the development of a shared musical symbiosis and vocabulary. The duo then opened itself to musicians with whom Erik Vermeulen has worked often: sax player Erwin Vann, double bassplayer Nicolas Thys and drummer Stéphane Galland.
The repertoire consists exclusively of improvisations, sometimes intuitive and at other times built around specific composition procedures and individual techniques of the soloists. What is certainly true is that their music favours”colour”, both in the use of smaller combinations within the quintet and in the explorations in sound undertaken on the various instruments.
