For the second volume in an occasional series – the first one (IGL097) was released in 1992 – L’Ame des Poètes has taken a second look at several classics from the repertoire of Chanson Française. “Le Sud” by Nino Ferrer, “L’été Indien” by Joe Dassin, “La Ballade des Gens Heureux” by Gérard Lenorman and “Harley Davidson” are just some of the remarkable songs which are extensively rearranged. The collection has proven popular with two audiences. On the one hand, new versions of such well-known songs interest fans of French song, both old and new. On the other, each track stands on its own merits as a sophisticated exercise in jazz melodics.
