In 1996, for Franz Marijnen’s version of “The Oresteia” (Flemish Royal Theatre), the Italian composer Giovanna Marini wrote the choral parts based on the texts in Ancient Greek for Aeschylus’ original. The songs are performed by a choir of young singers that has been put together for the circumstances. Giovanna Marini’s score gives the texts of the choir a direct yet lyrical strength of expression, as well as the authentic emotion of the human voice.
