A native of Rio de Janeiro, Marcia Maria started singing in the seventies. After presenting a TV show for two years, she released her first album in 1977. Five years later, she moved to Europe where she was a regular in prestigious clubs such as the New Morning in Paris and several jazz festivals. In 1986 and 1988 she released two further albums for French labels. For her new release Maria has called on some of Belgium’s finest jazzmen, such as Eric Legnini, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Bruno Castellucci, Steve Houben, Philip Catherine, Denis Van Hecke and Michel Hatzigeorgiou. Her special guest is the Brazilian guitarist Toninho Horta, now living in New-York. Original latin american themes or songs written for her (or with her) by E. Legnini, J.L.Rassinfosse or J.M.Jafet, Marcia gives also a very emotionnal interpretation of two “French songs”, one of Ferré, the other one of Ferrat.
