«Spirit One: Clarity» is the first part of a triptych called «Spirit», three inseparable albums to be released by Igloo. A project loosely inspired by the sound world of Chet Baker, a major inspiration for saxophonist Fabrice Alleman.

The collaboration between Igloo and Fabrice Alleman goes way back. After «Loop the Loop» (1998), «The Duet» (2009) and «Obviously» (2013) … it seemed, well, obvious to welcome this new large-scale project: a tryptic release («Spirit») that grew from the saxophonist’s reflections during the health crisis in 2020. ‘Clarity’, ‘Now’, and ‘One to All’ are three complementary works, each with its own aesthetic and message.
This first release, «Clarity», is a collection of nine very melodic compositions inspired by the world of Chet Baker, melodies of a rare sensitivity and depth. Music that is simple, obvious and immediate, like Chet’s. Among the saxophonist’s accomplices are the solid Jean-Louis Rassinfosse on double bass and the incredible guitarist (need we introduce him again?) Philip Catherine, themselves noted accomplices of Chet Baker! The luminous Nicola Andrioli joins them on piano and finally, to complete the high-flying team, Mimi Verderame and Armando Luongo «share» the drums (one of the – many – effects of the covid!). The icing on the cake, the Budapest Scoring orchestra invites itself on two tracks. A delight!
