After meeting guitarist Pierre Van Dormael, who introduced him to bassist Barry McNeese and drummer Philippe Mobers (with whom he still works), as well as keyboardist Philippe Decock (with whom he reunited for his new album “Au fil de l’eau”), he released his first single on Vogue Belgium with these same musicians in the early 1980s. This was followed by media exposure in major Belgian media outlets and a series of concerts, including at the Botanique in 1987.

He continued his career in the country’s café-theater circuit and was recognized by the French Community in 2005. Since then, his concerts have accumulated.

In addition to his own songs, he also tours with two other cover shows, including a show featuring Georges Moustaki, which was a great success throughout Belgium and France, and was also presented in Germany (accompanied by Ariane De Bièvre – flute and percussion, Patrick De Schuyter – guitars, and Barry McNeese – bass).

In 2025, Bernard Degavre released “La note bleue,” the second installment in a retrospective series of three albums of previously unreleased songs, performed live but never before recorded. This project is a continuation of the album “Au fil de l’eau” and precedes a third opus currently in preparation.
