Born in Rome 1970, after studies in Italy at Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio (Rome) and Perugia & Liege’ Conservatories, Jan has been playing several years with the Back to Normal Big Band and Koba. Based in Brussels since 1991, he has has been playing with Abdo Dagher, Kaat de Windt, Sonic Youth, Michel Hatzigeourgiou, Veronique Delmelle, Mirko Banovic, Steve Lacy, Emmanuel Louis, Maxime Lenssens, Pascal Rousseau, Michel Marissiaux, Alvin Curran, Richard Teitelbaum, Garrett List, Laurent Blondiau, Antoine Prawerman, Tuur Florizoone, Riad Abdel Gawad, Arno, Cécile Broché, Gilles Coronado, Maxime Lenssens, Nicolas Ankoudinoff, Bart Maris, Jean Derome, Isnelle Da Silveira, Hanna Bardos, Mathieu Ha, Yves Mora, Marc Galo, Frederic Rzewski, Angelo Schiavi, Mauro Verrone, Daniele Tittarelli, Luca Rizzo, Quentin Manfroy, Xavier Roger, Anne Genen, Kris Defoort, Esthelle Goldfarb, Anthony Braxton, Arne Van Dongen, Francesco Venerucci, Richard Teitelbaum, Arnaldo Vacca…and more recently with his own band Danza Quartet, with pianist Fabian Fiorini and with Garrett List.
As a composer, Jan has written a piece for Ictus as well as one for the Flemish Orchestra. He teaches saxophone and solfege at the Institut Rythmique Jaques Dalcroze, but he also has been working with the Cirque des Sons, AREAM (school of musictherapy) and the Maison de la Création, Brussels.
