Anne Wolf
Pianist, composer, teacher
Anne Wolf has been studying piano since the age of nine.
After following the academic track for about ten years, she entered the Royal Conservatory of Brussels*, where she earned a First Prize in Solfège and also studied classical harmony, music analysis, choral singing, educational psychology, and the history of classical music.
From this period onward, she embarked on a very active professional life, accompanying numerous French-speaking and Flemish singers and participating in a variety of projects in African, Brazilian, Cuban, jazz, rock, pop, and soul music.
Concurrently, she began studying jazz at the same Royal Conservatory of Brussels* and earned a First Prize in Piano under the tutelage of Eric Legnini.
In the following years, her penchant for jazz and Southern music was confirmed both on stage and in the studio, through various projects including her own trio with whom she recorded the album "AMAZONE" on the IGLOO label, followed a few years later by the album "MOON AT NOON" released on the MOGNO label.
In 2002, Anne Wolf received the "DJANGO D'OR" prize, awarded annually to a rising star of Belgian jazz.
In 2006, her composition "Moon at Noon" won an award from SABAM at the conclusion of a competition to select the required piece for the "Jazz Hoeilaart Contest."
In 2015, she formed the group WOLF IN THE WOOD, with whom she recorded the album "LIVE AT JAZZ STATION," also released on the MOGNO label.
Her current project is the ANNE WOLF QUARTET with Theo de Jong on acoustic bass guitar, Lionel Beuvens on drums, and Sigrid Vandenbogaerde on cello. This project resulted in the 2019 album "DANCE WITH THE ANGELS," followed in 2023 by the two-track single "KAHANE'S WALK IN KALAHARI," both released on the IGLOO label.
Several important encounters have marked her artistic journey, including those with Michel Petrucciani, Eric Legnini, Charles Loos, Marcia Maria, Pierre Van Dormael, and Theo de Jong.
Anne Wolf has performed internationally in various ensembles: Switzerland, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, New York, Austria, Brazil, Morocco, and more.
