Casimir Liberski

Casimir was born in Belgium in 1988 and started music very young. He received his first piano at 5 and quickly started to study this instrument. He has formed his first trio in August 2002 at the age of 14. He attended Jazz piano lessons and also turned to the classic. In 2005, he continued his secondary education, began a career of young pianist (rewarded in 2004 by the “Octave de la musique, révélation 2003-2004 “), and has signed the soundtrack of “Bunker Paradise,” the first feature footage of his father Stefan Liberski. In 2006, he won the competition for young jazz musicians organized during the Brussels Jazz Marathon. He also won the Audience Award and Best soloist. In 2006, the Belgian Foundation Spes awarded him a scholarship to regularly follow the teachings of the great jazz masters in New York. At 18, he went to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music with a exceptional scholarship. In USA he played with Ornette Coleman, Brad Mehldau, Masabumi Kikuchi, Danilo Perez,… He has released his first album in 2010 with Tyshawn Sorey on drums and Thomas Morgan on bass. Moreover, Casimir Liberski composed and performed music for several films, including the soundtrack of the feature film “Bunker Paradise” featuring Jean-Paul Rouve, nominated for best film music at the Ghent Film Festival.
