Sylvain Debaisieux
Born in Brussels in 1993, Sylvain Debaisieux began to play the saxophone at the age of 8 and started to learn about improvisation during summer workshops at Libramont when he was 13.
There and in different academies of music, he has been getting to know people who allowed him to grow musically : Stéphane Mercier, Bart Defoort, Pierre Vaiana, Fabrice Alleman, Bernard Guyot, and many others… In 2011 he started his bachelor degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (KCB) where he is still currently studying with John Ruocco and Jeroen Van Herzeele. He is selectionned in 2012 to be part of the « European Saxophone Ensemble », project, directed by the french saxophonist Guillaume Orti and touring in more than ten european countries. He is now regularly performing on the Belgian jazz scene with different formations, including Eve Beuvens’s Heptatomic with which he recorded a studio album in December 2014.
