Tristan Bernoud

Tristan Bernoud was born into a family of musicians; his two guitarist parents introduced him to Spanish, Latin, classical, and baroque music from a very young age. At the age of eight, he began studying classical percussion, a course of study he pursued for twelve years at the Nîmes Conservatory, during which time he fell under the spell of the vibraphone. There, he also honed his skills in writing, arranging, and composing. In 2020, having completed his classical training, Tristan decided to turn to jazz, drawn to the sense of freedom it offered him. He then entered the Montpellier Regional Conservatory in the class led by Serge Lazarevitch. The encounters, the energy, and the intense musical moments shared at this institution would prove decisive for the rest of his journey.

After receiving his Diploma of Musical Studies, he continued his studies in the Belgian capital with several of his classmates, entering the Royal Conservatories.

It was in 2023 that the Tristan Bernoud Project was born under the impetus of the vibraphonist. Noting a very strong alchemy between the musicians with whom he regularly plays, he began to write original pieces inspired by the music of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Ornette Coleman and the current New York scene.
