After years of playing as a sideman, Lionel Beuvens has formed his own quartet. On their debut Trinité, we hear a very contemporary sound with direct links both to the typical sound of ECM label and to the latin and classical jazz of the golden Blue Note era.

For his first album under his own name, Lionel Beuvens worked with noted musicians from the four corners of Europe, in particular two long-standing friends, the Finnish pianist Alexi Tuomarila and the French double-bassist Brice Soniano. An encounter with the Finnish trumpeter Kalevi Louhivuori brought perfect harmony to the group.

Throughout this first work, Lionel Beuvens offers a varied repertoire that demonstrates the wealth of his writing, where the groove is at the service of the melody and melody at the service of the groove.

Influences range from African music to Bach, not forgetting Radiohead, Steve Coleman, Count Basie and John Coltrane.
