Adrien Lambinet
Training & influences
Trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Mons and later in Liège, Adrien Lambinet developed a cross-disciplinary approach to music from a very early age. In Liège, he met the American trombonist and composer Garrett List, whose teaching profoundly transformed his vision of music-making. This encounter paved the way for a free, open and resolutely contemporary approach to music.
An eclectic career
Adrien has taken part in premieres with ensembles such as Ictus, Musiques Nouvelles and the Garrett List Ensemble. At the same time, he has been involved in multidisciplinary stage projects with Théâtre Maât, Feria Musica and Needcompany.
In 2015, he was invited to curate a programme at the Gaume Jazz Festival, where he presented a personal programme blending composition, improvisation and electronics.
Sound explorations
A curious and inventive trombonist, Adrien has developed a personal language centred on the augmented trombone. Through the addition of electronic effects and in-depth work on sound texture, he breaks new ground in his projects: The Brums, the Quark duo and the Munsch trio, whose album Entropia was released in 2023.
Collaborations
His world intersects with that of numerous artists from diverse scenes: Laurie Anderson, Stromae, Franco Dragone, Chilly Gonzales, Mike Patton, Fabian Fiorini, Echo Collective, Michel Portal, Arno, as well as Mik Maak, Tuur Florizoone, Artra Poetik, Collectif du Lion and Laila Amezian.
Composition & Conducting
He also composes for ensembles. His piece *Dominos, Show*, commissioned by Bozar for 250 child sopranos and the Belgian National Orchestra, illustrates his fondness for collective forms and participatory music.
He also conducts amateur and professional ensembles, such as Orchestra Vivo! as part of the *Music for Trees* project, a musical and ecological tribute to Garrett List.
Teaching
Since 2015, Adrien has been teaching improvisation at the AKDT in Libramont. In 2020, he relaunched the trombone class at the IMEP in Namur, which had been absent for several years. He also teaches chamber music there. His teaching approach centres on listening, sound exploration, body awareness and freedom of interpretation.
