Diogo Alexandre

He recently released his debut album, Pipe Tree, with the Diogo Alexandre Bock Ensemble, considered one of the best Portuguese jazz albums of 2021 by Jazz.pt: “A rare album for its difference and ambition, charting a unique path” (Gonçalo Falcão, 2022). This achievement highlights his artistic vision and commitment to charting a distinctive path in the jazz landscape of his generation.

Trained in Leiria, Coimbra, and Lisbon, where he began an intense period of learning and performing, Diogo quickly attracted the attention of important figures in national and international jazz. At 21, he was already collaborating with artists such as Django Bates, João Barradas, Amir El Saffar, Perico Sambeat, Ben Van Gelder, and many others. His dedication and talent earned him several prestigious awards, including that of “Revelation Musician.” RTP/Festa do Jazz (2020) and the RTP/Antena 2 “Young Musicians Award” (2019).

Currently, Diogo resides in Brussels, where he continues to develop his international career. Recently, he has collaborated with projects such as Casimir Liberski Retrio, Aleph Quintet, and Mosaic, a multicultural group bringing together musicians from Tunisia, Portugal, Bulgaria, and France. At the same time, he explores new sounds in electroacoustic projects such as TAC and ASA, as well as his solo work. The year 2025 promises to be an intense one, marked by his participation as a soloist in a piece by Igor C. Silva, commissioned for four improvisers, which will be premiered at the Cologne Philharmonic and presented in other prestigious institutions, such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Casa da Música, and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra. His artistic vision continues to broaden horizons, consolidating his position as a key voice in contemporary music.
