Richard Rousselet
Richard Rousselet is self-taught. He discovered jazz at the age of 15 and then began to appear on the Belgian scene, he played in numerous groups and won several prizes as a soloist. Thus in 63, he won the Django REINHARDT prize and in 64, the Maison de la Radio Prize (LAUSANNE).
In 69, he participated in the Montreux Festival and played in the International Festival Big Band led by Clark Terry and Ernie Wilkins.
Richard Rousseley worked for a long time with pianist and composer Marc Moulin in his various groups: PLACEBO, SAM SUFFY and, more recently, PICNIC.
With PLACEBO, he won the Prize for best soloist playing a wind instrument at the Montreux festival in 1971, awarded by the international press.
Then, we find him associated with the pianist and composer Michel Herr, notably in the group SOLIS LACUS.

A popular soloist, Richard Rousselet is a member of Brussel’s Little Big Band, the Old Style Band “SWEET SUBSTITUTES” with Charles LOOS and the group JAZZ ME DO with Phil Abraham. He worked in the BRT Big Band.
Since January 89, he has led the Jazz Big Band “WEST MUSIC CLUB”.
Since October 2005, he has taught at the Jazz Studio in ANTWERP.
He can be heard in around twenty albums including “Waitin’ For You” with his new quintet. (GAM 913), “Paul Dubois and The Sweet Substitutes” ((CDS 008) and “No Maybe…! (CDS 102). and Jazz Me Do (2 albums).
Since 2010, he has been part of the Brussel Little Big Band led by Alex Scorier. A nonet attached to the great tradition of jazz. The Miles Davis “Birth Of The Cool” sessions are widely discussed.
